Tianjin Port Situation
Between May 1–4, a total of 7 trains departed from Tianjin Port toward Erlian / Zamyn-Uud.
At the Tianjin railway terminal, there is a backlog of 3,600 TEU (approximately 1,800 containers) waiting to be transported to Mongolia.
Containers are waiting 21–28 days after arriving in Tianjin, and an additional 5 days are required for transportation to Zamyn-Uud.
At the 6 customs inspection yards in Ulaanbaatar, there are a total of 749 containers, of which 485 are loaded and 254 are empty.
The Red Sea crisis is ongoing: shipping companies have fully rerouted via the Cape of Good Hope, resulting in a 50% increase in Asia–Europe transportation costs. The standard transit time, which used to be 25–30 days, has now extended to 35–40 days or even longer.
On May 2, the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia visited the Zamyn-Uud Free Economic Zone to review its operations. He emphasized the principle of “export-oriented production.” The Mongolian side expressed openness to cooperation in sectors where domestic production capacity is insufficient, including construction materials, renewable energy equipment, food processing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
